The all-new Toyota Tundra is just about to hit the market and it poised to make waves in the full-size pickup segment thanks to new engines, new technologies, better comfort and infotainment features that will turn the segment around. More importantly, it retains the signature Toyota reliability that cannot be beaten by any rival in the segment.
Here, we compare the 2022 Toyota Tundra with the 2022 Ram 1500.
The 2022 Toyota Tundra has state-of-the-art performance
One of the most impressive innovations this year with the Tundra is undoubtedly its new engines. The all-new Tundra gets two; the first one is a twin turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 with an output of 389 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. The second one is the I-FORCE MAX, which uses the same V6, but adds an electric motor lodged between the engine and the transmission. The result is record-breaking, with 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque, all of which is available at 2,400 rpm. The power is managed by an all-new 10-speed automatic transmission with both powertrains.
Under the hood of the Ram 1500, you’ll find an aging set of powertrains. This lineup is composed of naturally aspirated V6s, V8s and diesel engines that lack innovations and efficiency. The Tundra’s turbocharged and hybrid power is also great for towing, even if it’s not a diesel or a V8. The Tundra will be able to tow upwards of 12,000 lb!
The 2022 Toyota Tundra gets a premium interior
Inside, the Tundra gets and all new cabin design. It now features offers a larger, 14-inch available infotainment screen that surpasses what the Ram offers in terms of size and functionalities. It also gets an available fully-digital instrument cluster. You can also completely lower the rear window for easy access to the bed, a special feature that the Ram 1500 doesn’t have.
Whether you choose the SR5 or the TRD Pro which comes with Fox Racing absorbers and a slew of off-road ready components, or any other model, your Tundra will be more reliable and dependable than the Ram 1500 and other American rivals.
