Record-breaking sales figures from October 2024 continue to reveal Canadian driving preferences....
The Toyota Highlander is a popular midsize three-row SUV. In fact, it is the most popular of its kind in Canada. That’s because it offers more than its rivals in terms of performance, efficiency and versatility. However, its interior and exterior features are what Highlander buyers really love.
Here, we take a look at the Toyota Highlander and the various features that make it better than its rivals.
The 2023 Highlander gets more efficient
One of the major changes to the Highlander for 2023 is the new four-cylinder, 2.4-litre turbocharged engine as a base engine. It delivers 265 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque sent to all four wheels thanks to a superbly engineered 8-speed automatic transmission. The gas-only Highlander is much more efficient now, with fuel consumption ratings of 11,0 L/100 km on the city and 8,3 L/100 km on the highway.
If you need to tow, the Highlander turbo lets you hitch up to 5,000 pounds!
The Toyota Highlander is once again available with a hybrid powertrain. It uses the four-cylinder, 2.5-litre powertrain and pairs it with a pair of electric motors for a total output of 243 horsepower. This one is even more efficient, with fuel consumption ratings of as low as 6.7 L/100 km in the city and 6.8 L/100 on the highway.
The 2023 Toyota Highlander is packed with features
Inside, the Highlander is very comfortable and roomy. You can get Softex or full leather seating, as well as many other amenities. It delivers plenty of cargo space; with 453 litres of volume behind the third row and up to 2,387 litres when all rows are folded, you’ll never run out of space for your gear.
Inside, the Highlander comes standard with an 8-inch infotainment system, but there is an available dual 12.3-inch screen setup in the Limited and Platinum models. The Toyota Multimedia system is better than ever, with Over-the-Air (OTA) capability and the new Intelligent Assistant that lets you activate various systems simply by saying “Hey Toyota.” The new Toyota Multimedia system also comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
The Highlander is also available in the Hybrid Bronze trim, which is loaded with features like exclusive exterior colours, along with bronze-coloured accents and wheels.
