The 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is one of the most efficient compact crossovers on the market due to its advanced powertrain that benefits from Toyota’s expertise in hybrid systems. Here is how it compares to other compact SUVs.
An efficient and powerful hybrid system
Hybrid powertrains were popularised by Toyota over twenty years ago and the refinements made to this technology over the years benefit the 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. Indeed, this is why the RAV4 Hybrid is both among the most powerful hybrid SUVs on the market and among the most efficient. With 219 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque sent to all four wheels by the standard all-wheel-drive system, the RAV4 Hybrid is more powerful than the standard gasoline-powered RAV4. Despite this, the fuel consumption is very low, with an average of only 5,8 litres per 100 kilometres in the city and 6,3 litres per 100 kilometres on the highway.
Enough cargo space to meet every need
Unlike some of its competitors, the 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid benefits from the same cargo space as the gasoline-powered RAV4 since the battery for its hybrid system is located under the rear seat instead of in the cargo compartment. This means that the RAV4 Hybrid offers 1,059 litres of space behind the rear seats, which can fold down to expand the load area up to 1,977 litres to carry larger items.
Advanced safety features that protect all occupants
The 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is equipped with all of the features included in the STAR safety system which is standard in every Toyota, in addition to the features that come with the Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 system. These include the forward collision warning system with pedestrian and cyclist detection, which warns the driver of a risk of collision and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a crash, as well as the Lane Keeping Assist System with road edge detection that monitors the lane lines and the edge of the pavement to make sure the RAV4 Hybrid doesn’t inadvertently drift away from its lane.
