The Toyota Corolla Cross may only have entered the line-up in 2022, but Toyota is not resting on their laurels and giving it a significant upgrade for 2023, centered around the addition of a Hybrid AWD option.
Hybrid Time
The Hybrid uses the same TNGA-C platform shared with both the non-hybrid model and the Corolla hatchback and sedan, but with a new electronic AWD system, previously unavailable in any Corolla models. Power for the Hybrid is rated at 194 horsepower, making the Hybrid the most powerful model in the Corolla Cross line-up. Of course in addition to the power, the Hybrid model is also efficient, using just 6.4L/100 km in the combined cycle. The 2023 Hybrid is available in two grades -- SE and XSE – with standard features such as 17-inch wheels, 8” touchscreen infotainment, sport-tuned suspension, LED head and tail-lamps, heated front seats, tinted windows and more. For those looking for even more style, there’s even a selection of two-tone colour options.
Multimedia to the Max
Every 2023 Corolla Cross comes standard with the latest infotainment system -- called Toyota Multimedia -- as well as wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay plus new USB-C charge ports. Toyota Multimedia system is now able to receive over-the-air (OTA) updates and provides “Hey, Toyota” voice commands that can direct you to the nearest sushi sport or guide you home. While you’re on your way, you can make use of cloud-based navigation that offers real-time traffic updates.
Toyota Safety Sense 3.0
Every 2023 Corolla Cross model – Hybrid or otherwise – comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS 3.0) to ensure that while the TNGA-C platform keeps you safe in the unfortunate event of a collision, TSS 3.0 is there to help you avoid the collision in the first place. Whether there’s a motorcycle in your blind spot or a pedestrian about to step out in front of you, TSS 3.0’s pre-collision system is on-hand to keep you out of trouble. There’s also dynamic radar cruise control with lane departure assist that keeps on eye on the driver to make sure they’re focused and alert, and will warn them if not. More than simply catering to the driver, TSS 3.0’s automatic high beams or on-hand to keep other drivers comfortable as well by automatically dipping the Cross’s high-beams when oncoming traffic is sensed.
