The 2020 Toyota Corolla Hybrid electrified the Los Angeles Auto Show this week as it was unveiled, becoming the first-ever Corolla Hybrid model to be available in North America.
Based on the redesigned Corolla, the hybrid model is built on Toyota’s TNGA platform and features a host of technologies including Entune 3.0 and Toyota Safety Sense 2.0.
Entune 3.0 is Toyota’s latest infotainment package that provides owners with a host of easily accessible features while Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is the Japanese automaker’s promise to keep you safe on the road.
Safety and Fuel Economy are Standard in the 2020 Toyota Corolla Hybrid
TSS 2.0 includes impressive features such as Lane Tracing, Radar-Based Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Prevention, Automatic Headlight Assist and a Pre-Collision Assist system with pedestrian detection. These features are all standard making the Corolla Hybrid one of the safest hybrid models you can buy today.
Available in the spring of 2019, the 2020 Toyota Corolla Hybrid will be powered by an Atkinson Cycle, 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor. Developing 121 combined horsepower, this engine provides both spirited performance and incredible fuel economy.
Official numbers haven’t been released yet, but you can expect the Corolla Hybrid’s average fuel economy rating to be less than 5.0 liters per 100 kilometers on average. The nickel-metal hybrid battery pack used to power the electric motor is lighter and more compact that traditional batteries found in hybrid vehicles. As such, it can be lodged under the rear seat as opposed to trunk and in doing so saves cargo capacity.
The Toyota Corolla Hybrid will feature a CVT automatic gearbox and three drives modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport. In other words, you can adjust and improve how your Toyota Corolla drives on the road.
